Discovered by Columbus in 1492, the Turks & Caicos Islands are an archipelago of 8 major islands and small uninhabited cays located at the end of The Bahama chain. The Turks & Caicos Islands are a British Dependent Territory, with a local seat of government located on the island of Grand Turk. The most inhabited of all the islands and certainly the most visited is Providenciales, also known as "Provo". Here on Provo, is where the exciting, new master-planned community called Leeward is taking shape.

Provo is the most populated and the most visited island in the Turks & Caicos archipelago. But with only 6,000 permanent residents, it's a wonderfully uncrowded and friendly place to be. A variety of fine hotels offer comfortable accommodations, and the opportunities for excellent dining and entertainment are plentiful. Provo is known as one of the premier destinations in the Caribbean for snorkeling and scuba diving, due largely to the magnificent coral reef which surrounds and protects her shoreline. As a result, 12 miles of pristine, white sand beaches ranks Provo among the finest in the world. From Provo, the full breadth of the Turks & Caicos Islands is open to enjoy and explore, including dozens of small uninhabited cays and sister islands, many of which are tropical wilderness land. Also known for its favorable year-round climate, the average Provo temperature is a balmy, breezy 78ºF.

Leeward is located on the island of Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands, which is 575 miles southeast of Miami, Florida. The island of "Provo" is connected to mainland US with direct jet services daily to Miami, and by scheduled inter-island flights to The Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Haiti. A variety of car rental agencies, motor scooter rentals and taxi services are available on the island. The road system on "Provo" is adequate by Caribbean standards and well-marked for directional purposes.
